In coordination with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, the Town of Pike Road has established Leadership Pike Road. Based on the concept of leadership development organizations such as Leadership Alabama, this group had its first gathering June 4, 2007, at Town Hall. Representatives from each of Pike Road’s unique neighborhoods were invited to be part of the inaugural group, which will learn about town goals such as the establishment of the municipal school system and potential transportation corridors. Information the group receives will allow the leaders to contribute to the planning of the town’s future growth and formulate new goals that are in keeping with Pike Road’s focus on quality of life. The group is being coordinated by Pike Road resident Carol Miller and Montgomery County extension agent Jimmy Smitherman.
