Pike Road Educational System for Excellence in Teaching (PRESET)

Hope for our future!

In 1919, the people of the Pike Road community worked together to open the Pike Road Consolidated School. During its 50 years of operation, the school was recognized statewide and nationally for educational excellence and innovation.

Building on this legacy, the citizens of the Town of Pike Road are now working to establish a municipal school system which will improve the quality of life in our community and, like it's predecessor, raise the bar for public education throughout the region. The Pike Road Education System for Excellence in Teaching, or PRESET, is the manifestation of the community's desire to create a bright future by building on our past.

The State of Alabama's guidelines for creation of a public school system require a population of at least 5,000 citizens. Pike Road is approaching this threshold rapidly, so it is time to move "full steam ahead" with the PRESET concept.

What is PRESET?

• A unique collaboration between Alabama's public universities and the local school which places both teacher candidates and expert educators in the classroom
• A model teaching environment for practicing the latest teaching techniques and developing new and better methods of instruction
• A state of the art facility built with the latest technological advancements, allowing opportunities for cutting edge learning for students and the community
• A community center, where opportuities for continuing education are offered to teachers, parents, students and all citizens
• An educational system that is owned and directed by a school board that is completely controlled by the citizens of Pike Road

What will it take to make this a reality?

• People: Not only do we need 5,000 citizens, we also need people like YOU to volunteer your time and talents to make this vision a reality. A plan of action is already in place, and committees have accomplished a great deal already. You can be a part of the process by contacting the town of Pike Road today!
• Funding: Exciting retail activity which will generate millions of dollars in revenue annually is on Pike Road's horizon, but we need financial resources now to begin the building process. We have established a 501-C-3 foundation to which tax deductible contributions can be made to support this effort.
• Commitment: Booker T. Washington said "Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work." YOUR commitment to the education of our children and community is a commitment to the quality of life in Pike Road for generations to come. The realization of this vision will require hard work from all of our citizens, but the reward will be enormous and long lasting. Please make a commitment today!
