About the Event

Join us via LIVE webinar as the 2020 Lunch & Learn series wraps up on Dec. 10! Sharleen Smith, Director of Continuing Education & Outreach at Troy University, will present "The Circle of Work Life: Coaching or Mentoring."

The Lion King, an animated movie centered around the coming of age of a lion cub, demonstrates the importance of coaching employees (or even colleagues) and mentoring employees (or younger colleagues). On Dec. 10, we will examine the definitions and differences in performance coaching and mentoring for success.

Mentoring is a process that businesses, small or large, needs to adopt to grow and expand. Many of us might know this but procrastinate or let the urgent take over the importance. Others may not understand the components of mentoring which make it a dynamic force for the two people. Many leaders do not know how to balance this new relationship of coaching or mentoring. Mentoring is about much more than just telling someone what to do — it requires working with employees to make decisions, solve problems and develop mental skills. These relationships not only benefit the mentee, but the company as a whole by creating a more independent and efficient workforce. Whether that business growth is in territory, manpower, sales or service, this session is bound to lift you up to a new level. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn:

  • Definitions and Differences in Performance Coaching and Mentoring for Success
  • Individuals Who Can Mentor
  • Key Components and Vision of Mentoring and Coaching
  • Mentoring Mechanics and Outcomes
  • Moving Your Organization Forward Through Mentoring
  • The Dec. 10 Lunch & Learn will be held via LIVE webinar due to current health and safety recommendations. Registrants will receive webinar login information via email prior to the event.
