About the Event

Explore the ancient art form of encaustic wax, made easy for everyone by artist Martha Colson! Encaustic paint is a beeswax-based paint that is kept molten on a hot plate or heated iron. Beginners and artists of all levels are encouraged to attend the Apr. 28 & 29 workshop, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily at the Pike Road Arts Center (944 Wallahatchie Rd).

This two-day course costs $175 per person and includes all materials + an encaustic wax workbook, except for a heat gun or blow torch, which can be purchased at most craft or home improvement stores. Bring a friend to split the cost of your heat gun! Learn more or register today: email Arts Council Coordinator Patty Payne at patty@pikeroad.us!

From the artist, Martha Colson: Come for learning a new medium and bring your creative energy! I go to Seattle, Washington to an Encaustic Workshop [soon] and will come home with a lot of new things to share with the class.

The Pike Road Arts Center is located at 944 Wallahatchie Rd, under the water tower. It is home to the Water House Gallery, studio space, and a variety of events presented by the Pike Road Arts Council, an ENHANCE initiative committee. For more information, please contact Pike Road Arts Council Coordinator Patty Payne by emailing patty@pikeroad.us.
