About the Event
The Pike Road Arts Council and Brantley Bank at Pike Road are inviting our community’s imaginative youth artists to submit a unique piece of art for the inaugural “My Pike Road” Youth Art Contest. This art contest is intended to encourage young artists in our community to share what they see when they think of “My Pike Road.” Before you begin your application, please review the eligibility, guidelines, judging criteria, and deadline information. Applications must be submitted to the Brantley Bank at Pike Road office (9545 Vaughn Road) by 3:00 p.m. on September 6, 2024.

Eligibility
- Open to children ages 6 - 12 who are residents of the Town of Pike Road. Each submission must be an original artwork created during 2024.
- Only one (1) submission per child is allowed.
Artwork Guidelines
- Artwork must depict a scene in the Town of Pike Road that illustrates a reason why you love your hometown.
- Artwork must be a scene that is outdoors OR in a public space.
- Artists are limited to using a maximum of four (4) colors in their artwork.
- Submissions must be landscape orientation (horizontal) and 11" wide x 8.5" tall (standard printer paper size). Sculptures, 3D images, videos, or photographs will NOT be accepted.
Judging Criteria
All artwork will be judged anonymously. Judges will evaluate the artwork based on the following criteria:
- Technical Skills - The artwork must display artists skill in painting, drawing, or digital art.
- Creativity - The artwork must be the student’s work and cannot be plagiarized or in violation of any copyright.
- Artist’s Statement - Along with the artwork, each submission must be accompanied by a brief (1 - 3 sentence) statement that explains the scene depicted and why they love their hometown.
Deadline and Submission Requirements
- Applications for participation can be picked up at Brantley Bank & Trust Co. at Pike Road (9545 Vaughn Road), Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. There is NO ENTRY FEE required to participate!
- Please DO NOT punch holes or fold your artwork. Clips will be available to secure your application form to your artwork.
- ALL FIELDS on the attached application must be completed. Failure to fill-in a field may result in disqualification from the competition.
- Children and parents must sign a release for use of the artwork if their submission is chosen as a winner.
Prizes
- All submitted art will be on display for the public at the Brantley Bank at Pike Road office until September 30, 2024.
- Child/Parent/Guardian will be allowed to pick up their art after September 30.
- The First Place Winner will receive $100, Second Place will receive $75, Third Place will receive $50, and Fourth Place will receive $25. Further, the artwork of the First through Fourth place winners will be used to create a set of notecards in a limited edition set that will be available for sale at the Brantley Bank at Pike Road office and Pike Road Arts Center (944 Wallahatchie Road).
- BONUS: The artwork submitted by the First Place Winner will be used on the t-shirt for the 13th Annual Pike Road Plein Air Paint Out!
