About the Quilter:
Nita Howell Forks a lifelong resident of Pike Road is a new quilter. She is a Master Gardener and gourmet cook and not interested in needlework. However, quilting was not new to her. She grew up with her mother quilting all around her. She finally consented to join her mother, sister and a few quilters on a trip to Ozark, Alabama, to a great little quilt shop. She enjoyed the day and picked up on several quilting terms. Her mother, Evielean Howell, suggested she try a “cake stack,” which is a package of 42 coordinating pre-cut 10-inch squares. She completed the project, making a nice-size cuddle quilt for her couch. She is a member of the Pike Road Quilters.
Nita's Cozy Couch Quilt:
Nita Howell Forks made this beautiful and colorful couch quilt as her first quilt in 2019. It is made from a cake stack, which is a package of 42 10” squares. Nita stitched the blocks together in rows of six squares making seven rows. It features a small block border followed by a four-inch coordinating border. The quilt was machine quilted by Kelly Thompson.
