About the Event
Our 2023 Art Talk & Tea series continues on July 16! Join us from 2 – 4 at the Pike Road Arts Center (944 Wallahatchie Rd) to meet Montgomery native artist George Taylor. Taylor's unique landscape and still life oil paintings are a curious blend of realism, impressionism, and other influences garnered through the study of art history and practical application. The July 16 Art Talk & Tea will provide you an opportunity to understand Taylor’s creative choices, examine his work and listen to him discuss his process and his passion. Afternoon tea-style refreshments will be provided by Epicurean Delights.
Seating is limited - this is a FREE event, but registration is requested in order to properly prepare for the event. Please email patty@pikeroad.us to let us know you’re coming.
About the Artist, George Taylor:
A Montgomery native, George Taylor attended Jefferson Davis High School, The University of Alabama and earned a B.S. in Accounting in 1989. After spending an eternity the following autumn with an Atlanta CPA firm, he resigned to pursue his lifelong dream of being an artist. Further peregrinations took him back to Montgomery, to Boulder, Colorado and again to Atlanta before returning to Montgomery in 1995 to paint the people, places, and landscapes that he loves.
Like the artists of the Lascaux caves, I am compelled to capture and share emotionally charged images of my life. I paint exclusively in oils because they have an unequaled feeling of solidarity, depth, and chromatic intensity. Though I do occasionally work form memory most of my pictures are painted en plein air because I prefer to be there, in the scene, to select the exact relationships and essences I’m after.
