Zoe Powell - Eufaula, AL

Zoe Powell began painting many years ago while working as a controller in private industry. Thinking it would be fun to learn to paint in watercolors, she was fortunate to have her first lesson from Theresa Fisher of Fisher Studio in Eufaula, Alabama. Time always being a problem because of work, she did not paint again for several years until she had an opportunity to attend a workshop led by Wayne Spradley of Pell City, Alabama.

“Encouraged by my husband Steve, I signed up. Then the unthinkable happened. Steve had by-pass surgery and did not have a successful recovery. So the week after we buried my husband, the workshop began. It was a lifesaver for me. I fell in love all over again.”

Now retired, Zoe no longer needs to weigh available action time to attend workshops or practice for improvement. “Having Rhonda Hancock as my mentor for the past three years, I have been encouraged to practice new painting techniques, join artists’ guilds, paint plein air, and exhibit my works. Watercolor painting has become a great joy.”

Zoe Powell is a member of The Eufaula Art Scene and the Columbus Artists’ Guild. Her works can be seen in several homes and businesses in the Wiregrass Area as well as other areas in Alabama, Alaska, Kentucky and Georgia. Her works have been displayed at various fine art shows such as Eufaula Fest, Camilla Invitational Art Show, Ft. Gaines ‘Christmas at the Fort’, the Waterfront SAC Show, and the CAG Member Show. She currently resides in beautiful historic Eufaula, Alabama where she has lived since 1985.
